Excalibur
Excalibur [Excalibur] BrE NAmE
the magic ↑sword of King Arthur. As a boy, he pulled it from a stone when no one else could move it. At the end of his life he told one of his men to throw it into a lake, where it was caught by the hand of the ↑Lady of the Lake coming out of the water. According to another version of the story Arthur also received Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake.
