Maiden Castle
Maiden Castle [Maiden Castle] BrE NAmE
a very large ancient ↑fort on a hill near ↑Dorchester, ↑Dorset, England. It was first occupied in about 2000 BC and was attacked and captured by the Romans in AD 43. Today only the impressive earth banks around it remain.
