The Republican Party is sometimes called the Grand Old Party. It was established in 1854 by people who wanted to free the slaves. Abraham ↑Lincoln was the first Republican ↑President, and others have included Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D Eisenhower, Richard M Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George Bush and George W Bush. The official symbol of the party is an elephant.
