the Scilly Isles
the Scilly Isles [the Scilly Isles] BrE NAmE (alsothe Scillies BrE NAmE the Isles of Scilly)
a group of about 140 small islands about 28 miles off the south-west coast of England. Five of the larger islands have people living on them, and the capital is Hugh Town on the island of St Mary’s. The Scillies have a mild climate and are popular for holidays/vacations.
