Foot Guards
Foot Guards [Foot Guards] BrE NAmE noun [pl] (in Britain) five infantry regiments (= groups of soldiers who fight on foot) whose historical duty has been to protect the king or queen. They are the ↑Grenadier Guards, the ↑Coldstream Guards, the ↑Scots Guards, the Irish Guards and the ↑Welsh Guards. They are considered the best soldiers of their kind in the British Army.
