Southwark
Southwark [Southwark] BrE NAmE
a ↑borough of South London, on the opposite side of the ↑Thames from the City. Historically it was one of London’s main centres for entertainment. It included Shakespeare’s ↑Globe and many other theatres. ↑Bankside and the ↑Tate Modern are in Southwark and it has its own cathedral.
